About This Position

We are currently seeking a talented visual and web designer with proven experience to create rich branded experiences. You will play a vital role in our tight-knit team to solve real problems through design, creating beautiful, functional and meaningful user experiences for primarily web-based projects.

The Web Designer will both follow the creative direction of studio directors, as well as plan and generate creative ideas independently. The ideal candidate shines in collaborative settings, and can also work independently and self-motivate. The Web Designer will also be expected to support, mentor and/or direct other team members as needed, self-manage tasks & deadlines under the direction of studio directors and project manager(s), and contribute positively to a collaborative & creative working environment.

We’re a small shop, so everyone here plays a big role in our success.

The Web Designer’s responsibilities include:

  • Planning, creating, maintaining, and producing creative & strategic work, primarily web-based, for clients of the studio, as well as internal projects for the studio.

  • Contributing positively & constructively to all aspects of projects: research, strategy, design, development, & QA

  • Actively participating in, and contributing to, both client & internal meetings

  • Owning the full interactive design cycle: planning, sketching, moodboarding, wireframing, concepting & executing designs for websites & user interfaces

  • Prototyping wireframes & designs for internal & client review

  • Working collaboratively with front-end developers to implement and test designs to pixel perfection

  • Staying ahead of the latest design and development news, directions & developments

The person we’re looking for has:

  • Approximately 1-3 years designing beautiful, engaging and responsive user interfaces.

  • A drive to deliver incredible visual designs with an eye for detail.

  • Strong, persuasive verbal & written communication skills, and total comfort communicating with fellow designers, developers, project managers, studio directors and clients.

  • Ability to self-motivate, learn quickly, and work independently.

  • Pride in themselves, their work, and the work of their fellow designers.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and other design and prototyping tools.

  • Familiarity with HTML5, CSS and other web technologies.

  • A positive and optimistic attitude

  • Spent hours reading about responsive design, the merits of a “mobile-first” approach, the differences between Agile & Waterfall workflows.
