Description
The retired priests of the Archdiocese of Bombay reside at the Clergy Home at Bandra, Mumbai. Most of them in their late 80’s continue their humble and prayerful life here. This project is about their story. Their achievements, contributions and dedication towards the Catholic Church and society at large. Each of them is unique and special with gifts and talents that they put to use for the Church. Some of them have built Churches and started schools while others have initiated programmes for the upliftment and growth of society. The Clergy Home, Bandra houses 21 priests and a bishop. The Sisters of the Poor along with the administrator look over the general maintenance and keep a check on their individual diets and medications. Boy attendants see to the daily cleaning and maintenance of the Clergy Home. The priest that reside here and the ones who have gone before are the actual foundations of the Catholic Church in Mumbai. Most of them come from Goa where Christianity was introduced much earlier. This project aims at giving the viewer a picture of their present stage in life while the text narrates their efforts and achievements during their pastoral service. Today retired and trying to cope with old age and ill health, these priest hold the treasure of a bygone decade.
