Remnants of a Dream is a series that I took in Matola, Spain in 2012 at the family barn of the ex-bullfighter 'Curro Matola'. Like all young athletes he had desires and dreams, which family and friends pushed him to achieve. Long hours of training and dedication led the 'matador' to greatness and fame. After years of success he fell down and never stood up in an arena again.
Many years passed and the reflection of glory and bitterness at the family house are omnipresent; Inside the matador's house, trophies fill the walls and nostalgic pieces clutter the corners. Outside the house, the last witness of this era is standing on the abandoned plaza: a rusty metallic bull built by his dad for practice. The 'torero' trained for hours to become the legend he once was.
These two universes are the reflection on Remnants of a Dream: a matador who has lost fame, fortune and a place in history.
