I had it when I was born and ever since that moment; the world has been slowly taking it away from me.
In any given interaction, a number of sophisticated interpersonal mechanisms surface and meet in the space between the two people. These mechanisms aren’t necessarily malicious. We all have them, and we all use them on conscious and subconscious levels. Often in these moments people engage in ways actually harmful to them -- ways loaded with cultural and societal commentary that defines and limits their abilities to relate to themselves and to each other. In this body of work I have explored the space of those who daily face a very specific set of projections: those fighting to affirm their own worth in the midst of a culture whose standards of perfection have become warped and rigid. In doing so I have discovered a point of common accord.
Simply said, we all want to be engaged in meaningful ways.
