    By Photo Artist Kevin Boldenow
  • Kevin Boldenow’s life-long passion for photography began the moment he picked up his parents’Brownie camera. Since that time, Kevinhas built a career as a professional photographer specializing in 35mm, mediumformat, and digital landscape and figurative imagery. In addition to his native Michigan, Kevin has lived in fivestates, including Texas, New Jersey, and Virginia, before moving to Florida in1996.

Inspired by the density and drama of thelandscape, Kevin began to work primarily in black & white, andblack & white infrared film, as a way to capture the myriad textures anddetails found in the overwhelmingly verdant landscape. Although color will always be a part ofmy portfolio, Boldenow believes that black & white moredramatically reveals the combination of light, heat, and shadows found in thealready mystical landscape. In hisown words, Kevin seeks to instill “a sense of awe of the natural environmentand the feeling of serenity we have when we allow ourselves to truly experiencethe beauty of nature. Natureallows my mind to breathe. Sooften, we allow little distractions to upset our balance. Nature helps me retain that balance”.

Boldenow’s images make you take carefulobservation of the subject matter. The subtle beauty captivates your senses. You can almost feel the sun’s rays playing through thetrees, hear the harmonic chorus of morning insects, and experience the smell ofmoistened earth and dew on the rich foliage. As a natural extension of the love of nature, Kevin hasprogressed into creating Fine Art Nudes, blending the beauty of the female formwithin the landscape. Boldenow’swork continues to evolve, ever experimenting and expanding his work and style.

Boldenow’s work has been presented throughoutthe state of Florida, having received numerous awards, including the SouthFlorida Cultural Consortium Fellowship for Visual and Media Artists(2004). Boldenow also has servedas President of the Lighthouse Gallery Camera Club from 1999-2002, and created the Treasure Coast Photography Group in 2008. Boldenow also teaches Basic DigitalPhotography, does Individual and Group Photo Excursions, and in 2010, SummerPhoto Camps for middle and high school students.
